Hearing God’s voice, truly hearing God’s message, demands transformation. We receive new possibilities and responsibilities, sometimes a new name, and always a transformed lifestyle if we are to be faithful to God’s calling. For privileged persons like myself – and most of my readers – this means advocacy for social transformation, justice, and earth care, and sacrifice of comfort and largesse for the greater good of the voiceless, “the least of these,” in our midst. I believe that this is the call of Amos to America today.
