Process theology affirms God’s quest for beauty in the lives of persons and institutions. We seek not only a “great society,” but a society that promotes beauty and largeness of spirit. We must always aim for a more perfect union, recognizing that all our achievements fall short of God’s vision of Shalom. In seeking to be companions of God in healing the world and to imitate God’s quest for beauty in our personal and corporate behavior, we need to recognize that the achievement of these goals is always partial and often requires choosing imperfect solutions that pave the way for the perfect union we seek.
